How to set up a new HDD 


Before starting the following steps make sure you have taken the old hard drive out of the PC, inserted the new hard drive provided and installed the PC back into the machine. You have inserted the correct dongle, Paylink (if applicable), touch screen cable, and both monitor cables correctly, now power up the machine. Everything will now set up as normal and the games will load up on the screen. Any problems prior to the games loading you will need to phone technical support to diagnose before continuing.

You will need to have the games on screen NOT the backoffice. And you will need a USB keyboard plugged into the PC.

  • Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to open up the Windows Task Manager. You will be in the Processes tab, find and highlight typhoon.exe and press ALT + E, then press ALT + Y on the warning message. Find and highlight quixant.exe and press ALT + E, press ALT + Y on the warning message.
  • Next press ALT + F which opens “File” then press ENTER which will let you run a new task.
  • In the dialogue box enter “control” then press ENTER
  • Now you will be in the Control Panel, find the System icon and press ENTER.
  • Press the TAB key until you have a dotted line around the “General” tab, then press the right arrow twice to go to the “Hardware” tab. Press the TAB key once to select “Device Manager” and press ENTER
  • When the window opens press the TAB key once to select the PC, then use the down arrow to select “Disk Drives” the press the right arrow to expand the contents. Now go down and select the drive labelled Kingston and press ENTER.
  • Press the TAB key until you have a dotted line around the “General” tab then press the right arrow once to select the “Policies” tab.
  • The selection we are looking at is called “Enable write caching on the disk”
  • THIS SELECTION NEEDS TO BE UNTICKED 
  • If it is already ticked press ALT + E to remove the tick from the selection box
  • Only proceed if you are certain that the “enable write cashing on the disk” selection does not have a tick in the box.
  • Now use the TAB key to put a dotted line around the “OK” box and press ENTER
  • You might have a warning message asking if you would like to restart the PC at this selection press ALT + Y to restart the machine.
  • If you did not get the restart warning press CTRL + ESC to open the windows start menu, then press the letter U to get the power control options, followed by the letter R to restart the machine
  • At this point you can remove the keyboard and lock the machine up.
  • The machine will now restart and load back up into game mode.
